To support research topics aligned with UIC Barcelona’s priorities that could attract European funding. Successful applicants will receive support from a consultant specialised in European projects to prepare a strong proposal and strengthen their research and knowledge transfer activities.

Modalities: 

• Beginner stage: consultant support to build a consortium and network of contacts, and to identify and select suitable European calls.

• Advanced stage: consultant support to prepare and submit applications to specific European calls already identified by the PI.

• Follow-on stage (new): for research groups that took part in the first UIC Europe edition and wish to continue and deepen the work started. Requirements: to have been a beneficiary in the previous edition and to have attended the scheduled meetings with the consultant. 

Funding: Total budget: 35.000€

Requirement:  All researchers holding a PhD who belong to the functional or organic staff of UIC Barcelona and have a full-time (or exclusive) contract may apply, once they have the endorsement of their Department, Faculty or Institute. Each researcher may act as Principal Investigator (PI) in only one application to the UIC Europe programme, although there is no limit to the number of European project proposals to which they may later apply. If a funded European project is awarded, UIC Barcelona must be a beneficiary for the entire duration of the project.

Proposals to the Small Research Grants on Education program must be for research projects that aim to study education. Proposals for activities other than research are not eligible (e.g., program evaluations with no significant research component, creation of professional development programs, curricula, and/or assessment tools, with no significant research component, scholarships, capital projects, software development). Additionally, proposals for research studies focused on areas other than education are not eligible.

Funding: Up to 50,000 USD for projects ranging from one to five years.

Requirement: Principal Investigators (PIs) and Co-PIs applying for a Small Research Grant on Education must have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field.

Through our Education and Awareness Grants, the LEO Foundation wishes to strengthen the pipeline of future researchers within the fields of medicine, chemistry, and pharmacy, and to raise awareness about science, including skin and skin diseases.

Funding: Co-funding is not required for first-time applicants; however, the Foundation prioritizes projects that include substantial funding from other sources. If you are seeking renewal or follow-up funding, your proposal should include plans for securing more than 50% of the project funds from other sources.
