Finançament per a assajos clínics pragmàtics iniciats per investigadors acadèmics per optimitzar immunoteràpies en pacients amb càncer refractari. Recerca sobre drets de propietat intel·lectual i copyright en l'era de la IA generativa. El projecte ha d'analitzar com el contingut generat per IA desafia els marcs legals actuals i com garantir un mercat just i transparent per a creadors i consumidors.

Aquesta convocatòria té com a objectiu principal el pilotatge de solucions d'Intel·ligència Artificial (IA) i IA Generativa per a l'anàlisi d'imatges mèdiques en entorns clínics reals. Es busca validar l'eficàcia de la IA en el cribratge, diagnòstic i tractament, assegurant-ne la integració fluida en els fluxos de treball mèdics. 

L'enfocament no és només el desenvolupament tecnològic, sinó la validació clínica. Els projectes seleccionats hauran de:

1. Aportar evidència clínica del rendiment de la IA.

2. Garantir la integració en els fluxos de treball existents dels centres hospitalaris.

3. Comptar amb la participació activa de professionals mèdics qualificats durant tot el procés de validació.

The Independent Social Research Foundation wishes to support independent-minded researchers to explore and present original research ideas which take new approaches, and suggest new solutions, to real world social problems. Such work would be unlikely to be funded by existing funding bodies.

The Foundation intends to award on a competitive basis, to candidates of sufficient merit, a number of grants providing flexible support (for instance: relief from teaching and/or administration, research and travel expenses, fieldwork and practical work) for a period of (up to) one year for the activities of a small research group. 

Funding: 8.700€

Eligible Research: Innovative research which crosses established disciplinary boundaries and critically challenges incumbent theories and approaches, so as to address afresh empirical problems with no currently adequate theory or investigative methodology. Innovation may also come from controversial theoretical approaches motivated by critical challenge of incumbent theories. Projects ranging across the breadth of the social scientific disciplines and interdisciplinary research fields are welcome, and relevant applications from scholars working within the humanities are also encouraged.

To support research topics aligned with UIC Barcelona’s priorities that could attract European funding. Successful applicants will receive support from a consultant specialised in European projects to prepare a strong proposal and strengthen their research and knowledge transfer activities.

Modalities: 

• Beginner stage: consultant support to build a consortium and network of contacts, and to identify and select suitable European calls.

• Advanced stage: consultant support to prepare and submit applications to specific European calls already identified by the PI.

• Follow-on stage (new): for research groups that took part in the first UIC Europe edition and wish to continue and deepen the work started. Requirements: to have been a beneficiary in the previous edition and to have attended the scheduled meetings with the consultant. 

Funding: Total budget: 35.000€

Requirement:  All researchers holding a PhD who belong to the functional or organic staff of UIC Barcelona and have a full-time (or exclusive) contract may apply, once they have the endorsement of their Department, Faculty or Institute. Each researcher may act as Principal Investigator (PI) in only one application to the UIC Europe programme, although there is no limit to the number of European project proposals to which they may later apply. If a funded European project is awarded, UIC Barcelona must be a beneficiary for the entire duration of the project.

Proposals to the Small Research Grants on Education program must be for research projects that aim to study education. Proposals for activities other than research are not eligible (e.g., program evaluations with no significant research component, creation of professional development programs, curricula, and/or assessment tools, with no significant research component, scholarships, capital projects, software development). Additionally, proposals for research studies focused on areas other than education are not eligible.

Funding: Up to 50,000 USD for projects ranging from one to five years.

Requirement: Principal Investigators (PIs) and Co-PIs applying for a Small Research Grant on Education must have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field.
